LOWELL, MA - The Tri-City ValleyCats picked up a road win over the Lowell Spinners, 7-2, thanks to an offensive outburst. Ben Smith (5-2) picked up the win in relief of starter Brandon Bielak, while Nick Duron (2-4) took the loss.

Jonathan Arauz got things started with his first home run of the year on a two-run blast in the first inning to make it 2-0. The 'Cats tacked on another two runs in the third inning, off an Adrian Tovalin two run home run to make it 4-0 'Cats.
The Spinners attempted to crawl back in the game, with an RBI double by Marino Campana, and an RBI single by Juan Barriento to make it 4-2. Those two runs ultimately ended a strong performance by starter Brandon Bielak, who went four innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out three.
In the sixth inning, the 'Cats pulled away, thanks to a wild pitch by Taylor Ahearn, which scored Adrian Tovalin, and an RBI single by Kyle Davis to make it 6-2. The 'Cats added another run for good measure on a wild pitch by Durin O'Linger, which scored Tovalin once again to make it 7-2.
The bullpen was absolutely sensational for the 'Cats, with Ben Smith securing the win the fifth thanks to a hitless inning. Corbin Martin came on in the sixth, and bewildered the Spinners, going four hitless innings, allowing one walk and striking out nine batters.
The 'Cats and Spinners will wrap up their three-game series on Thursday, before the 'Cats head west to face the Williamsport Crosscutters for a three-game series.
