February 7, 2014

TROY, NY- Come spring, the Tri-City ValleyCats will team up for the second straight season with Hannaford Supermarkets to bring a show worthy of "The Joe" to one lucky youth sports league.

The "Show on the Road" event will have a family day atmosphere, with events that include a pregame picnic supported by Hannaford, a home run derby competition, and entertaining promotions throughout the ballgame. The ValleyCats will bring their inflatable games, mascots, PA Announcer, music, and promo team to create the fun and exciting entertainment that everyone is used to at each ValleyCats game.

As part of the "Show on the Road," there will be pregame entertainment, ceremonial team introductions, a live performance of the national anthem, and in-game promotions that include fan favorites such as the Tri-City mayors race, t-shirt tosses, pony hops and more.

Hannaford Supermarkets will also be on hand to lend support in the league's concession stand and to showcase healthy food and snack options.

The Tri-City ValleyCats and Hannaford Supermarkets recognize the important role that youth sports play in leading a healthy and active lifestyle, having fun, and learning about sportsmanship. For this reason, the application process will be based on how leagues have exhibited sportsmanship, both during play and throughout the community.

"We recognize that youth sports play a vital role in the growth of future leaders. Through our partnership with Hannaford, we are able to build upon our 'Cats Care initiative of encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle. While at the same time bring fun and exciting promotions to a league that has exemplified good sportsmanship on and off the field," said Rick Murphy, ValleyCats Vice President/General Manager.

"Hannaford strongly believes that every child should have the opportunity to explore his or her potential through healthy, active recreational activities, such as those provided through youth sports. We are proud to partner with the Tri-City ValleyCats to bring 'Show on the Road' to a league that not only inspires active living but good sportsmanship as well," states Molly Tarleton, Regional Community Relations Specialist for Hannaford Supermarkets.
