C's and Canadian Blood Services hit goal

Canadians fans help give the 'Gift of Life'
May 19, 2009
(Vancouver, BC) - Canadian Blood Services is thrilled with the results of the first-ever "Vancouver Canadians Day" at the Oak Street blood donor clinic.

Reaching 100 per cent of its daily target, Canadian Blood Services collected 80 units of blood on Saturday, May 16th. As one donation has the power to change the lives of up to three people, the Canadians day has the potential to impact the lives of just under 250 hospital patients across B.C.!

Kathy Broad-Scott, Regional Partnership Specialist for the B.C. & Yukon Region, hopes the success of this day will set a precedent for other community groups to follow the Canadians' lead in giving back.

"The Vancouver Canadians really made a difference by partnering with us on one of the toughest weekends of the year," notes Broad-Scott. "This is such a great example of the impact that local organizations can have in their own communities. Thank you to the Canadians' staff, mascot, and fans for coming out to donate and supporting blood donation in Vancouver."

For those who are interested in donating, please call 1-888-2-DONATE to book an appointment to give.
