DAVENPORT, IA - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers shut out the Quad Cities River Bandits 5-0 on Tuesday night at Modern Woodmen Park to pick up their second straight win. Christian Taugner allowed one hit over six innings for his third victory of the season.
Brent Diaz gave the Rattlers (33-42 overall, 2-4 second half) a 2-0 lead with a two-run home run to right field in the top of the third. That was just the start of the offense for the Rattlers in that inning. Zach Clark doubled and move to third on a grounder. Then, Tristen Lutz singled to center and Clark scored for a 3-0 lead. The single moved Lutz's hitting streak to ten games.

Trever Morrison kept the inning moving with a bunt single. Jay Feliciano was next and he doubled to left to score Lutz. Kenny Corey capped the inning with a sacrifice fly to send Morrison home with the fifth run of the frame.

Taugner carried his no-hit bid into the fifth inning before allowing a one-out single to Manny Costes. He would also issue a two-out walk in the inning, but got the final out without allowing a run. He would also issue a one-out walk in the sixth inning before ending his night by getting David Hensley to ground into an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play. Taugner walked three and struck out four as he shut down the Bandits (41-25, 1-5).

Wisconsin received three scoreless innings from the bullpen to pick up their third straight shutout of the first half Western Division Champions. Robbie Hitt worked around a hit batsman in the eighth inning as he retired six of the seven batters he faced. Cody Beckman allowed a double and a single in the bottom of the ninth, but stranded runners at the corners by setting down the final two batters of the game.

The Timber Rattlers scoreless innings streak has reached 31-2/3 innings against the Bandits and dates back to June 6 at Neuroscience Group Field. Jonathan Lacroix drove in a run with a one-out single in the top of the fifth inning of that game and the River Bandits had a 3-0 lead. Wisconsin rallied to win that night 4-3, beat the Bandits 1-0 on June 7, defeated Quad Cities 9-0 on June 25, and kept the streak rolling with the 5-0 win on Tuesday night.

The final game of the series is scheduled for Wednesday night. Dylan File (5-3, 3.67) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. The River Bandits have named Cesar Rosado (3-2, 3.46) as their starting pitcher. Game time at Modern Woodmen Park is 6:35pm.
