Springfield, MO—The Arkansas Travelers rallied from an early deficit and then had to hang on for a 4-3 win over the Springfield Cardinals on Thursday night. Springfield scored two in the first and the Travs didn’t dent the scoreboard until Jake Scheiner led off the fifth inning with his team leading 17th home run of the season. Arkansas took the lead in the sixth only to see Springfield tie it in bottom of the inning but the Travs answered for the eventual game-winning run in the top of the seventh. Starter Matt Brash did not factor in the decision lasting 5.1 innings and giving up three runs on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts. He did retire 11 consecutive Cardinals and 15 out of 16 at one point. Nate Fisher was the winner out of the bullpen with Michael Stryffeler netting the save.

Moments That Mattered

* Jose Caballero, in his Travs and Double-A debut, hit a double in the top of the seventh and then Bobby Honeyman followed with a ground ball base hit up the middle to put the Travs on top for good.

* After Springfield loaded the bases in the eighth but failed to score, the Cardinals filled them up again with two out in the ninth on two walks and a hit batter. Stryffeler got out of it though striking out Chandler Redmond to end the game.
