HICKORY- The Asheville Tourists pitching staff continued their excellent week of action on Saturday night with another noteworthy performance. The Tourists pitchers held the Hickory to a total of three hits, the fewest allowed in a game all season, yet Asheville fell by a final score of 3-2.

The Crawdads scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the third inning. The big blow came on a bases-loaded double and the home team took a 3-0 lead. The Tourists responded with two runs in the top of the seventh. Pascanel Ferreras hit a two-run single that brought Asheville within a run.

The Tourists were unable to mount a game-tying or go-ahead rally like they did on Friday, but they continually kept pressure on the Crawdads. Asheville’s offense worked nine walks in the game; one shy of their season-high.

Jose Guedez, Railin Perez, and Manuel Urias were the three pitchers who shined on the mound. Guedez gave up just two hits and Urias tossed four shutout innings down the stretch.

Asheville will attempt to earn a road series split with the final game of the set scheduled for Sunday afternoon. The first pitch is slated for 2:00pm ET.
