ASHEVILLE- Saturday night at McCormick Field went from a blowout to an entertaining conclusion for those in the stadium who stuck it out. Asheville fell behind 13-3 with only six outs left and managed to somehow pull within a run. Ultimately Brooklyn held on to win 16-12.

The game featured a total of 12 unearned runs, 15 walks issued, and six errors. It certainly wasn’t the prettiest game ever played. Yet the excitement was undeniable when the Tourists sent 12 batters to the plate and rallied for nine runs in the bottom of the eighth. Alex McKenna’s Grand Slam highlighted the frame. The Tourists also received a two-run Home Run from Colin Barber earlier in the contest.

Aside from the monstrous Asheville eighth inning, the game belonged to the Cyclones. Brooklyn scored at least one run in every inning except for the seventh and multiple runs in six of the nine frames. They even added three insurance runs in the top of the ninth after the Tourists had rallied.

The Cyclones hit four Home Runs, collected a total of 15 hits, walked nine times, and took advantage of four Tourists errors. Alec Kisena struck out eight in five innings to earn the win for Brooklyn. Juan Pablo Lopez lasted only 2.2 innings and suffered the loss for Asheville.

Korey Lee, Scott Schreiber, and A.J. Lee all had multiple hits for the Tourists. Ramiro Rodriguez drove in a run for the fourth straight game by earning a bases loaded walk ahead of the Grand Slam.

The Tourists and Cyclones wrap up their six-game series on Sunday afternoon with the first pitch scheduled for 1:05pm.
