Z's, Budweiser team to help Folds of Honor

Zephyrs will wear camouflage jerseys for each Sunday home game
March 27, 2014

Throughout the 2014 season, the New Orleans Zephyrs will be teaming with Budweiser to promote the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women who have been disabled or killed in action.

During each Sunday home game, the Zephyrs will raise awareness for the program by wearing special camouflage jerseys. Budweiser and the Zephyrs will be encouraging fans to donate to the charity at the ballpark in exchange for tickets to Sunday games.

"This program partners the Zephyrs with Budweiser to honor a fantastic foundation which provides a great service," said Zephyrs General Manager Mike Schline. "It also brings excitement and opportunity to bring more people to the ballpark on Sunday home games this year."

"This will be the first time we have had a military jersey as a permanent part of our season's uniform. It is a great way to show military support and showcase the wonderful service Folds of Honor provides throughout the entire 2014 season."

There are currently more than 1 million dependents of military service men and women, 87 percent of whom do not qualify for educational assistance from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and other governmental programs. Folds of Honor aims to honor military families by filling that gap in providing educational support and opportunities.

"Our goal is to raise money to support the Folds of Honor Foundation in its mission to provide educational scholarships for military families who have sacrificed so much while serving our great country," said Jerry Peters, Marketing Manager for Southern Eagle. "Dollars raised here will be utilized in the New Orleans community."
