Rocket City Rallies Past Barons, 6-3 on Thursday

MADISON, Ala -- The Birmingham Barons lost 6-3 to the Rocket City Trash Pandas before 3,521 on Thursday night. The Barons outhit the Trash Pandas 11-7 but struggled to get the big hit, as the Barons were 2-for-16 in runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on base.

Starting pitcher Lucas Glover got the no-decision, going three innings, giving up two hits, two earned runs, and two walks with three strikeouts. Jarold Rosado (4-4, 8.74) got the loss in relief, going one inning, giving up three hits, four earned runs, and two walks. Mattias LaCombe pitched two innings, giving up only one hit with a strikeout. Liam Paddack pitched two innings, giving up only one hit, no runs, and three walks with three strikeouts.

The Barons (16-20, 42-63) scored in the top of the first inning. Dylan Campbell hit a ground-rule double to right field. Caleb Bonemer doubled on a sharp line drive to left field, scoring Campbell, and the Barons led 1-0. With two outs, Ryan Burrowes reached on a throwing error while scoring Bonemer on the play, and Birmingham led 2-0.

In the bottom of the second inning, Jacob Cozart hit a solo home run, and the Barons' lead was 2-1. In the bottom of the second inning, an Arjun Nimmala RBI double tied the game at 2-2.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Trash Pandas scored four runs. Two walks and three doubles later, Rocket City took the 6-2 lead.

In the top of the sixth inning, Samuel Zavala reached on a throwing error. Jorge Corona walked. With two outs, Jordan Sprinkle hit a double to right field, scoring Zavala. The Barons trailed 6-3.

With the loss, the Barons trail the series at two games to one to Rocket City.

Up next, the Barons will play Game 4 of the six-game series. RHP Juan Carela (0-1, 3.86) will go to the mound while RHP Kyle Robinson (0-0, -.--) will go for the Trash Pandas. First pitch is at 6:35 pm.
