Barons Bats Explode in 10-5 Win Over Lookouts on Friday night

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn -- Colby Shelton hit two home runs as the Birmingham Barons won 10-5 over the Chattanooga Lookouts before 5,096 at Erlanger Park on Friday night. The Barons hit four home runs while Alec Briley had five home runs in his last three games. He has 27 home runs on the season. The Barons have won four in a row against the Lookouts in this series.

Dylan Cumming (4-7, 5.21) gets the win, going five innings, giving up three hits, two earned runs, and a walk with eight strikeouts. Garrett Wright pitched two innings, giving up one hit, three earned runs, two walks with three strikeouts. Jackson Kelley pitched two innings, giving up only one walk with three strikeouts.

Birmingham (24-25, 50-68) scored five runs in the top of the first inning. Dylan Campbell and Caleb Bonemer walked. Alec Briley followed with a three-run home run, his 26th of the season. The Barons led 3-0.

Samuel Zavala and Jose Colmenares walked. Grant Magill doubled on a line drive to right field, scoring Zavala and Colmenares. The Barons led 5-0.

Chattanooga (15-34, 52-66) in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run home run by Julio Carreras. The Lookouts trailed 5-2.

In the top of the second inning, Campbell singled and Bonemer walked. Shelton hit a three-run home run, and the Barons led 8-2.

In the top of the fourth inning, Bonemer hit a home run over the right-field wall, his 14th of the season. The Barons led 9-2. Shelton hit a home run to right field, his 14th of the season, and the Barons led 10-2.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Kien Vu hit a three-run home run, and the Lookouts trailed 10-5.

For the Barons, Shelton had the two home runs and four RBI. Briley had the home run and the three RBI. Bonemer had a home run, two walks, an RBI, and three runs scored. Magill had two hits and two RBI.

Up next, the Barons will play Game 5 of the six-game series on Saturday. The two starting pitchers will be RHP Connor McCullough (1-7, 4.34) with the Barons while RHP Javi Rivera (3-8, 6.88) will start for the Lookouts. First pitch is at 5:30 pm (CT).
