BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Logan Darnell put a stop to the Barons' offensive outburst on Saturday night, pitching 7.2 strong innings in the 3-1 Biscuits' victory over the Barons.
Montgomery jumped out to a quick start, beginning with the leadoff batter in the top of the first, as Jake Cronenworth took a Spencer Adams ' pitch out into the Barons' bullpen in right-center field for a 1-0 lead. Before the inning was over, Justin Williams knocked in his 57th run of the season with an RBI single.

Spotted a 2-0 advantage before stepping on the mound, Darnell held the Barons' bats at bay, making the 2-0 lead stand up through six innings.
On the other side, Adams settled in, not allowing another run for the rest of his outing, thanks in part to another spectacular diving catch by left fielder Hunter Jones in the top of the third. Adams left the game after six, scattering seven hits and two runs, while walking two and striking out four.
The Barons finally broke through against Darnell in the seventh, as Courtney Hawkins blasted his ninth home run of the season, a solo shot to cut the Montgomery lead in half to 2-1.
However, Birmingham could not push the tying run across the plate in the eighth and Nathan Lukes ' ninth inning RBI groundout doubled the lead back to two at 3-1. Ian Gibault then pitched a scoreless bottom half of the ninth to secure the victory.
Darnell picked up his fifth win of the season, allowing only one run and striking out five. Adams dropped to 7-14, while Gibault recorded save number 10.
The Barons will conclude their season series with the Biscuits tomorrow afternoon at Regions Field, with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT.
