Knights Announce Six Roster Moves Tuesday

Naquin, Ureña & Peralta Added to Active Roster Today

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights announced six roster moves ahead of the team's opening game against the Gwinnett Stripers on Tuesday night. The two teams will meet in game one of a six-game series with first pitch on tap for 7:04 p.m. from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.

OF Tyler Naquin was acquired by the Chicago White Sox organization from the Milwaukee Brewers organization and was added to Charlotte’s active roster today. The 32-year-old outfielder has spent the entire 2023 season with Triple-A Nashville. In 40 games this season with the Sounds, Naquin compiled a .284 batting average with 21 runs scored, four doubles, six home runs, 21 RBI and three stolen bases. For his career, he has appeared in 557 games at the major-league level.

RHP José Ureña was signed by the Chicago White Sox organization and assigned to the Charlotte Knights today. Ureña, 31, began the season with the Colorado Rockies and appeared in five games with the team. He posted a 0-4 mark with a 9.82 ERA in 18.1 innings pitched for the Rockies before being released on April 27. He then signed with the Washington Nationals on May 2 and went on to appear in 15 games with Triple-A Rochester this season. He went 1-3 with a 6.31 ERA for the Red Wings in 67.0 innings pitched. For his career, the Santo Domingo, DR native has appeared in 194 games at the major-league level over parts of nine seasons (2015-23). He owns a 39-66 record with four saves and a 4.92 ERA in 813.0 innings pitched.

LHP Sammy Peralta was optioned back to Charlotte by the White Sox on August 7 and was added to Charlotte’s active roster today. With the Knights this season, Peralta, 25, has appeared in 25 games (six starts) and is 3-5 with a 5.34 ERA over 59.0 innings pitched. He made his MLB debut earlier this season with the White Sox on May 4 (0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO). He earned the win for the White Sox on August 6 in a relief appearance against Cleveland (0.2 IP).

LHP John Parke was released by the Chicago White Sox organization. A native of Greenville, SC, Parke posted a 2-6 record with a 6.91 ERA in 14 games (eight starts) this season with the Knights in 41.2 innings pitched. The University of South Carolina product pitched for the Knights over parts of three seasons (2021-23) and appeared in 53 games (44 starts) with Charlotte in 230.2 innings pitched over that span.

RHP Nick Gallagher and RHP Haylen Green were both assigned back to Double-A Birmingham today. Gallagher made three appearances with the Knights and was 0-0 with a 13.50 ERA over 3.1 innings pitched. Green posted a 1-0 record with a 10.13 ERA in three games pitched (one start) with the Knights in 5.1 innings pitched.
