Six extra-base hits have propelled Biloxi to a 6-3 victory of the Chattanooga Lookouts on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Field. Jaylin Davis hit a two-run bomb in the fourth inning, his first Double-A home run after joining the Lookouts on Thursday.
The Shuckers got scoring underway early as designated hitter Lucas Erceg hit a solo shot over the right field wall. That was followed by another solo shot by Max McDowell in the fifth frame after Davis had briefly put Chattanooga ahead. Two more runs in the sixth and seventh padded the lead, while a pair of RBI singles from Troy Stokes Jr. and Erceg in the ninth ensured a comeback wasn't on the cards.
Anthony Marzi pitched frive strong innings, scattering three hits on two runs while he struck out more than five batters for the first time since his first start with Chattanooga back on May 6th. Davis finished the game with three hits while Andy Wilkins had his second straight multi-hit game by going 2-for-4. Brent Rooker's single in the eighth inning extended his hitting streak to five games, the longest active stretch by a Lookouts hitter. Rooker is now hitting .329 at home, the highest average by an active Chattanooga batter.
Right-hander Kohl Stewart (3-4, 5.11 ERA) will toe the rubber for Chattanooga tomorrow opposite fellow righty Zack Brown (6-0, 2.53 ERA) when the teams return to the field at 7:15pm.
