CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater gets on the board late but can’t pick up enough steam as the Threshers fall to the Dunedin Blue Jays 5-1 on Wednesday night.

Dunedin (4-10) held the Threshers scoreless until the bottom of the eighth inning. Casey Martin singled to lead off the inning and sped to second after a wild pitch. Baron Radcliff and Rixon Wingrove followed with two consecutive walks to load the bases with no outs. Carlos De La Cruz recorded a sacrifice fly to put the Threshers on the board 5-1.

Matt Joyce was in the lineup for his second night of a rehab stint with the Threshers. He went 1-for-4 with a double in the designated hitter spot for Clearwater.

Starlyn Castillo (0-1) suffered the loss for the Threshers despite a strong start. The Pimental, Domincan Republic, native struck out six batters and allowed just one run on two hits in his three innings on the mound. 40 of his 61 pitches were strikes.

The Threshers look to get back in the win column as the two teams meet again on Thursday night. LHP Jordi Martinez (1-0) takes the rubber for Clearwater. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. game. Guests can enjoy Taps & Apps and a meeting of the Lil’ Anglers Kids Club. TICKETS
