CLEARWATER, FL – The pitching staff of the Clearwater Threshers (11-5) combined to allow one run on two hits and strikeout 16 batters in a 2-1 win over the Bradenton Marauders (3-13) on Tuesday night at BayCare Ballpark. The Threshers go for their fifth-straight win on Wednesday in Clearwater.

Trent Farquhar, Pierce Bennett and Kehden Hettiger each drew walks to begin the game and load the bases before an out was recorded. With one out in the inning, Ricardo Rosario hit a ground ball up the middle for a base hit to score the opening two runs for the Threshers.

The Marauders halved the lead in the sixth, scoring their first run on a sacrifice fly to make it 2-1. Clearwater held Bradenton to a pair of singles, with one coming after the third inning. Two batters got on in the ninth, but Saul Teran struck out three to seal the win at 2-1.

Luke Russo (1-0) allowed one hit and three walks in 5.0 shutout innings with eight strikeouts to earn the win. Luis Ortiz allowed one run and one walk without allowing a hit with two strikeouts in 1.0 inning. Paxton Thompson struck out three batters in 2.0 scoreless and hitless frames. Teran allowed one walk and one hit but struck out three to earn the save in a scoreless ninth.
