CLEARWATER, FL - The Clearwater Threshers dropped a second straight contest to the St. Lucie Mets 8-1 on Saturday night in front of 3,075 at BayCare Ballpark.

Right-hander Gunner Mayer made his eighth start of the season on the mound for Clearwater, allowing three runs on four hits, including two homers with two walks and eight strikeouts in four innings of work. Mayer was charged with the loss.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, the Threshers (14-27, 49-57) tied the game on an RBI single by Hao Yu Lee. It was Lee's team-leading 49th RBI of the season but the only run the home team would push across.

The Mets (23-18, 63-43) smashed three home runs in the game and scratched across runs in the first, second, fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth innings to build their lead to 8-1. St. Lucie has hit nine homers through the first five games of the series.

Following Mayer, the Threshers used two relievers out of the bullpen in left-handers Jared Wetherbee and Matt Osterberg. The two southpaws combined to allow five runs on seven hits in five innings of work.

The Threshers managed only six hits in the game, and did not record more than one hit in any single inning.

Clearwater and St. Lucie wrap up the six-game set on Sunday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. Left-hander Josh Hendrickson (MiLB Rehab) is scheduled to start for the Threshers, opposite right-hander Calvin Ziegler (0-3, 3.50 ERA). Coverage on the Threshers Broadcasting Network is set to begin at 11:50 a.m.
