CLEARWATER, FL - Despite grabbing a 2-1 lead in the fifth, the Clearwater Threshers dropped the six-game series finale to the St. Lucie Mets 8-2 on Sunday afternoon at BayCare Ballpark.

Left-hander Josh Hendrickson, on MiLB rehab from Reading, made the start for Clearwater on the mound and allowed only one hit with seven strikeouts in four innings of work.

The Mets (24-18, 64-43) opened the scoring in the fifth inning, using an RBI single by Blaine McIntosh off reliever Konnor Ash to make it 1-0.

Trailing 1-0, the Threshers (14-28, 49-58) grabbed the lead on a walk and a two-run home run from Cade Fergus to make it 2-1. It was the second long ball of the season for Fergus but the only runs the Threshers would push across.

Following Ash on the mound, the Threshers used the foursome of Alex Garbrick, Gabriel Yanez, Carlos Betancourt and Victor Lopez out of the bullpen. All four relievers allowed at least one run as the Mets went on to score in each of the final five innings, including a four-run ninth inning, to pull away and cruise to an 8-2 victory.

The Threshers managed only five hits in the game and with the loss, dropped four of six games in the series.

Clearwater will have Monday off, before hitting the road to open a six-game series with the Daytona Tortugas at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. First pitch on Tuesday night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and coverage on the Threshers Broadcasting Network will begin at 6:55 p.m.
