MIDLAND - Aaron Brown and Tyler Guilfoil both turned in six-inning gems as Corpus Christi captured both ends of Friday night's twin bill, 3-2 in 10 innings and a 2-1 triumph in the nightcap before 4,666 fans at Momentum Bank Ballpark.

After allowing a pair of runs in the first inning of Game 2, Guilfoil responded by setting down 18 of 21 batters to finish his first Double-A quality start. The 24-year-old from Lexington, KY struck out a season-best seven while holding Midland to five base runners: three hit batsmen and two Colby Thomas doubles.

Guilfoil authored a 2.51 ERA in six May outings.

The Hooks washed away a 2-0 deficit by scoring three times in the third. Singles by J.C. Correa, Rolando Espinosa, and Ryan Wrobleski began the frame. One out later, Zach Cole leveled the score with a two-run double into right-center. Pascanel Ferreras' sac fly in the next plate appearance proved to be the game-winning swing.

Jacob DeLabio stranded two by striking out the side in the seventh for his second save of the year.

The opening game of the doubleheader featured three extra frames. The scoreless stalemate was snapped in the ninth on a two-out RBI single by Correa.

Thomas made it a 1-1 affair by leading off the home half with a double into left-centerfield, plating the automatic runner. Cole got the ball quickly and found relay man Jeron Williams, who fired a strike to third to cut down Thomas, bidding for a triple, for the first out of the frame. Kasey Ford then struck out the next two to send the game into the 10th.

A walk and a wild pitch began the game-winning rally for CC, setting the stage for Cole's RBI infield knock.

Ford sealed the win with a 1-2-3 Hounds 10th.

Brown permitted only two singles and a walk over his six sterling innings, breezing six.

Alejandro Torres blanked Midland in the seventh and eighth.

Wrobleski, from the nine-hole, reached base six times in seven plate appearances via four singles and two walks over the course of the two games.

Cole was 4-for-7 with three RBIs and a walk.
