FRISCO - The Hooks pounded out 18 hits while Cionel Pérez struck out eight over 5 1/3 frames Sunday afternoon as Corpus Christi downed Frisco, 9-7, before 8,026 fans at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The Hooks, who have won 7 of their last 9 games, are in position to force a split of the series Monday morning.

Each man in the Corpus Christi lineup recorded a knock Sunday, with Josh Rojas and Taylor Jones leading the charge at three hits apiece.
Jones started the scoring in the first with an RBI single, and Rojas opened the third with a home run to right field, making it a 3-1 ballgame.
Corpus Christi carried a 3-2 lead into the seventh before receiving a two-out, two-run single off the bat of Randy César, making it a three-run affair.
Cesar, who is riding a Texas League best 13-game hit streak, has plated 11 runs in his last five games.
The only two hits allowed by Perez were solo home runs from Correlle Prime and Juremi Profar.
Perez has won his last 3 assignments, striking out 23 against two runs, six hits and three walks over 14 1/3 innings.
The Hooks added four markers in the eighth. Stephen Wrenn opened the frame with an opposite-field shot into the lazy river. Jones followed with an automatic RBI double to left-center (initially ruled a home run), and Carmen Benedetti capped the barrage with two-out, two-run single.
Corpus Christi survived a scare in the ninth as Frisco turned a 9-2 deficit into a two-run margin.
Rehabbing Ranger Drew Robinson provided the big hit with a no-doubt grand slam to right field.
The Hooks send lefty Alex Winkelman to the hill Monday morning. First pitch 11:05. The game will be carried in Corpus Christi on 1400 KUNO-AM.
