WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Jan. 25, 2017) - Oh Say Can You Sing? The Winston-Salem Dash want to find out! The Dash and the Winston-Salem Journal will host their 2017 National Anthem Tryouts on Saturday, February 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the lower level of Hanes Mall below the food court.
Singers can sign up for an audition time by visiting JournalNow.com/NationalAnthem. Only 125 entrants will be guaranteed an audition, while all other interested individuals may attend the Tryouts and register as a stand-by performer. If you are among the first 125 singers to register, the Dash will notify you of your audition time by email or phone.
From the Tryouts, the Dash will select singers for all 71 of their scheduled home games at BB&T Ballpark in 2017. The top five highest-scoring contestants will receive four Dash tickets and be eligible for the Grand Prize. The Grand Prize winner will be determined through an online vote on the Journal's website, and he or she will earn a second signing opportunity before the Dash's Fourth of July game, one of the most popular dates on the Dash's schedule each year. The Grand Prize includes four Dash hats and four all-inclusive Flow Club tickets.
Entrants can sing with a group or play an instrument if desired, but there will be no music provided during the audition. All performances will be recorded, and a celebrity panel of judges will be present. All contestants are asked to dress as if it were gameday, and there will be a 90-second time limit. The Dash will reach out to all participants within three weeks of the Tryouts to inform them of the results and, if applicable, assign a date to sing at a Dash game in 2017.
Performers of all ages are welcome to sing, though a parent or guardian must be present at the Tryouts if a participant is younger than 18 years of age. For more information on the National Anthem Tryouts, call Dash Director of Entertainment Jessica Aveyard at (336) 714-6862.
Single-game tickets for the Dash's 2017 season go on sale next Wednesday, February 1, at 10 a.m. For more information, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
