WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 11, 2017) - One game after delivering 10 runs in a resounding victory, Winston-Salem could not continue its hot hitting. The Dash dropped Sunday's series finale to the Salem Red Sox by a score of 11-1 at BB&T Ballpark.
Winston-Salem (20-43) hung around in the contest until the seventh, when Michael Chavis launched a three-run homer to give the first-place Red Sox (39-24) a 7-1 advantage. Chavis leads the Carolina League in all three Triple Crown categories (.335, 16 homers, 54 RBIs).

Two innings later, Salem removed all doubt with four runs against Ryan Riga, with Tate Matheny's two-run double acting as the exclamation point.
The Dash were unable to solve Salem starter Dedgar Jimenez (8-1), who earned his CL-leading eighth victory by limiting Winston-Salem to one run on two hits over six innings. The southpaw fanned four and walked two over just 91 pitches.
After the Red Sox seized an early 1-0 lead in the second, Winston-Salem plated its only run against Jimenez in the home half of the second. Brady Conlan and Aaron Schnurbusch began the frame with singles. Following a Danny Mendick sacrifice bunt, Daniel Gonzalez registered an RBI with a groundout to short.
However, Salem grabbed the lead for good with two in the fifth on a Matheny RBI single and a Chad De La Guerra solo shot. The Red Sox added another run in the sixth thanks to an RBI single by Jhon Nunez before Chavis' bomb one frame later.
Dash starter Dane Dunning (2-2) worked into the sixth inning, but he suffered the loss after surrendering four runs (three earned) on six hits. Dunning racked up five more strikeouts, giving him 38 in 31.2 innings of work at the High-A level.
The Dash's final home series of the first half begins Monday at 7 p.m. against the Down East Wood Ducks, the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Winston-Salem sends right-hander Luis Martinez (0-2, 16.71 ERA) to the mound against left-hander Frank Lopez (0-1, 9.45 ERA). Catch the action on wsdash.com/broadcast, MiLB.tv and the TuneIn Radio App, with coverage starting at 6:45 p.m.
Monday's game is an All-You-Can-Eat for Free Night, with free hot dogs, hamburgers and cheeseburgers available through the seventh inning. For tickets, which start as low as $8, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
