The Stone Crabs deployed the opener strategy to begin the game with Mikey York on the mound, followed by Ian Gibaut. The Blue Jays were unable to put anything together through much of the game, but Justin Dillon was even stronger for Dunedin. Dillon went seven innings of two-hit baseball with no runs allowed. The only two hits came from MLB rehabber, Michael Perez. Justin Dillon has now gone 19.0 innings in a row with no runs allowed, and his ERA has lowered from 4.15 to 3.66.
Neither side was able to string together more than one hit in an inning until the 8th inning for the Blue Jays. Alejandro Kirk had a big day going three for three with two singles and a double. It was the 8th inning when the Blue Jays finally broke through against the Stone Crabs with some timely hitting by Kevin Vicuña and Logan Warmoth. Kevin Vicuna singled over the second baseman to open the inning, and Cal Stevenson put down a perfect sacrifice bunt to get the runner in scoring position. Logan Warmoth did the rest of the heavy lifting with an RBI single past the second baseman to bring home a hustling Kevin Vicuna with the throw to the plate not in time.
Dany Jimenez came in for the 8th and 9th innings, and he made easy work of a tough Stone Crabs lineup. He retired the side in both innings, and he tallied three strikeouts as well with two coming in the 9th inning. Dany's fourth win of the year gives him a share of the team lead.
Dunedin will be going for another win streak with Joey Murray facing the Stone Crabs at 6:30 pm. Murray picked up his second win of the year during his last outing against the Threshers last Friday.
