Moosic, PA --- Willy Adames collected three hits and a career-high five RBI to lead Durham past Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 10-6 on Friday night at PNC Field.
Durham's victory, coupled with Gwinnett's Friday loss, lowered its magic number of clinching the South Division to five.  
A sacrifice fly in the ninth inning capped the big night for Adames, who singled twice and doubled in the battle of first place teams in the South and North.
Patrick Leonard delivered three hits as part of a 15-hit attack for the Bulls (76-48).
Trailing 1-0 after one inning after the first of two Greg Bird home runs, Durham scored four times in the fourh and fifth innings to take command. The RailRiders (78-46) countered with a four-run fifth against Michael Roth to close to within 8-6.
Jeff Ames (1-1) earned the win in relief, his first of the season. Chaz Roe, Jaime Schultz and Ryne Stanek combined for the final three innings to close out the series opening win.
Brent Honewell starts the middle game of the series on Saturday night at 6:35 PM ET against LH Joe Mantiply.
