Emeralds Add to the 2013 Promo Schedule

May 22, 2013

In addition to the return of popular promotional days such as "Kids Eat Free Wednesday" and "Thirsty Thursday" at PK Park, the Eugene Emeralds are excited to introduce new promotional events for the 2013 season.

Bats and Tats Night

Taking place on Tuesday, July 23rd, "Bats and Tats" Night gives a discounted ticket to anyone who shows off their tattoo at the ticket window and the Ems will also pass out temporary tattoos of the new logo at the gate.

Tyler Tostenson, Director of Corporate Events, believed that more could be done to enhance the event and as a result came up with a contest idea.

"I thought to myself, 'how can we make this event more fun?' - and instantly thought we had to do a fun tattoo competition," said Tostenson. "Since Eugene and Springfield have so many talented tattoo artists surrounding it, I thought it would be a great idea to have a competition with three tattoo shops tattooing our new logo on three lucky participants."

The three local tattoo shops that will participate in the competition are Black Lotus Tattoo, Bonaroo Tattoo and Cry Baby Ink. Fans will be able to vote via Twitter for their favorite tattoo of the logo and a winner will be crowned during the game.

Purple in the Park Night

Presented by Agate Alley Bistro and Laboratory and taking place on Wednesday, July 24th, Purple in the Park Night's aim is an opportunity to educate fans and raise money for Relay for Life.

All fans attending the game that evening are encouraged to wear purple apparel to show support for the fight against cancer and additionally, the Emeralds will sell special purple "Squatch Cancer" tee shirts for $10. All proceeds from the sale of these limited edition shirts will go directly towards Relay for Life.

Assistant General Manager Sarah Heth has worked with Relay for Life extensively this year and is pleased with the partnership between them and the Emeralds.

"I have the honor of serving on the Relay for Life committee this year," Heth said. "It has been an amazing experience working with such a dedicated group of people who give so much of their time and energy for a worthwhile cause of fighting cancer.

She continued, "Working alongside them to further the cause and hearing survivors stories has truly been life changing and I am proud to be part of the event with the Emeralds."

Christmas in July

On Wednesday, July 24th the Eugene Emeralds are excited to host Christmas in July night at PK Park.

The first 1,000 fans entering the stadium will receive a complimentary Christmas ornament presented by Kendall Auto Group.

Sluggo will be in giving mood dressed as "Sluggo Claus" for the night and fans are encouraged to donate gifts that will go directly to the Kendall Cares and their Christmas for Kids event that takes place in December.

Matt Dompe, Director of Corporate Sales for the Ems, is looking forward to partnering with Kendall Auto Group for the event.

"We've been wanting to do this promotion for a few years but could not fit it into our promotions schedule," Dompe said. "Kendall Cares is a great partner for this event especially since Sluggo has attended their Christmas event the past three years."
