The SeaWolves (5-3) took the finale against Binghamton (3-5) on Sunday, 5-3, to win the series.

Erie opened the scoring early as TJ Hopkins and Stephen Scott hit consecutive solo home runs with two out in the first against Rumble Ponies starter Cameron Foster.

The SeaWolves loaded the bases on three walks from reliever Andre Scrubb in the third inning. They would tally a third run on Brady Allen’s run-scoring double play ground ball.

Binghamton got onto the scoreboard in the fourth inning against Erie reliever Tim Naughton, who took over for starter Wilkel Hernandez, when JT Schwartz hit a solo home run.

Jake Higginbotham opened the fifth inning by retiring the first two Ponies batters. Binghamton then recorded four consecutive singles, including run-scoring knocks from Jeremiah Jackson and Schwartz to tie the game at 3-3.

Erie immediately went back ahead in the bottom of the frame against Justin Jarvis. Jake Holton doubled with two out and then scored on Allen’s go-ahead triple.

Allen added a solo blast leading off the bottom of the eighth inning to extend Erie’s lead to 5-3.

RJ Petit and Calvin Coker finished the game with four innings of scoreless relief for Erie.

Higginbotham (1-0) was credited with the win. Jarvis (0-1) took the loss in his season debut. Coker earned his first save of the season.

Erie opens a series in Akron on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Troy Melton will pitch for Erie.
