Trenton's Zack Zehner Wins MVP With 2 RBIs Game-Winning Hit

Manchester - The Eastern Division sent twelve men to the plate in a seven-run sixth inning and won the 2017 Eastern League All-Star Classic 7-1 over the West squad on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, NH.

Trenton's Zach Zehner, who had two hits including a two-run single in the sixth inning, was named the game's Top Star. New Hampshire's Ryan McBroom tied the score with an RBI single ahead of Zehner's first hit. Danny Mars of Portland, who had three hits, then singled to make it 4-1. Gunnar Heidt of the Fisher Cats drilled a two-run double and scored on an error for the game's final run.

The West put together back-to-back two-out doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Aderlin Rodriguez of Bowie, who won Tuesday's Home Run Derby, scored on the hit by Yu-Cheng Chang of Akron. Fisher Cats pitchers Conner Greene and Dusty Isaacs combined for three scoreless innings with seven strikeouts for the East. Drew Anderson of Reading picked up the win after tossing a scoreless top of the sixth inning.

The Fisher Cats open an eight-game homestand with the first of five games with the Portland Sea Dogs on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Stick around after the game for spectacular Atlas Fireworks show, presented by Goodwill industries of Northern New England.
