Portland, ME - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats were victimized by another walk-off loss Saturday night, as the Portland Sea Dogs pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the tenth to down the 'Cats 5-4 at Hadlock Field.
The Fisher Cat started the scoring in the top of the third. Matt Dean walked to start the frame and later scored on a two-out RBI single from Reese McGuire, but Portland tied the game with a solo home run from Danny Bethea in the bottom of the frame.
New Hampshire broke the 1-1 tie with three runs in the top of the seventh, though Portland answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth to tie it 4-4.
Portland won it in the tenth. With runners at first and second and two outs, Mike Olt singled to center to plate the winning run as the Sea Dogs were walk-off winners 5-4.
Fisher Cats starter Tom Pannone was superb in his final outing of 2017. The Cranston, RI native went seven innings and allowed one run on three hits, didn't walk a batter and struck out seven.
Harold Ramirez had two hits and an RBI to go with two walks on offense for New Hampshire.
The series continues tomorrow night in Portland. RHP Sean Reid-Foley will go for the Fisher Cats while RHP Kevin McAvoy is on the hill for the Sea Dogs. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. and can be heard locally on AM 610 WGIR or online via iHeartRadio or the MiLB First Pitch app.
