The season begins on Opening Day April 9th vs. Las Vegas. Presented by Phoenix Coatings, Inc., Opening Day is the launch for the Bear Flag Rebellion of 2015. All fans receive a commemorative Growlifornia Poster, courtesy of The Fresno Bee, while the Grizzlies will also raise the Growlifornia Republic Flag for the first time in the park. Afterwards, a postgame fireworks show marks the first of 10 firework nights at Chukchansi Park. The remaining firework nights occur after every Friday home game, while the largest show happens on Fourth of July.

Food is becoming a larger part of the experience at sporting events and the Grizzlies were ahead of the trend when they introduced Taco Truck Throwdown back in 2011. The event hits the fifth anniversary on August 6th vs. Sacramento, and marks the final of the five Season of the Throwdown events at the ballpark. All five events occur on Tecate Thursdays ($2 24oz Tecate and Tecate Light) and focus on a specific food theme, with the first being a Tri-Tip Throwdown on April 16th featuring Dog House Grill. Pizza gets the spotlight on May 21st with Zamore Pizza Truck, while the Grizzlies debut the Frankenslice, which is a hot dog stuffed pizza slice. A Burger Throwdown featuring Colorado Grill occurs on June 25th, while a Chopped-style food event is scheduled in the club level on July 16th and pits higher-end restaurants against one another in a battle for their take on traditional ballpark faire.

Affordability is a primary concern for a lot of people when it comes to entertainment, and the Grizzlies are excited to announce Good Karma Night on April 15th, which allows fans to pay whatever they want for a game ticket, with half the proceeds from each ticket benefiting the place that gets kids back into the game (hint hint). There are also 25-cent Hot Dog Nights, presented by Eckrich & Armour, on Monday, May 4th vs. El Paso, Sunday, June 21st vs. Las Vegas (Father's Day), and Monday, August 31st vs. Albuquerque.

The Fresno Grizzlies are known for attracting national attention with their theme jerseys, a la Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just last year, and 2015 is no exception. The team will continue to use the attention they garner to assist local non-profits by having the Grizzlies Community Fund auction off the game-worn jerseys during the course of the game, which last season collectively raised over $10,000. Fresno will wear the following theme jerseys in 2015: Fresno State Bulldogs April 10th vs. Las Vegas, Growlifornia Bear Flag April 11th vs. Las Vegas, Fresno Raisin Eaters May 22 vs. Nashville, Captain America May 25th vs. Memphis, Fresno Tigers June 19th vs. Las Vegas, Captain America July 5th vs. Tacoma, Houston Astros inspired Tequila Sunrise July 18th vs. El Paso, The Future Starts in Fresno on Tribute to Back to the Future night on August 15th vs. New Orleans, and Fresno State Bulldogs once more on September 4th vs. Salt Lake.

Dog Lovers can bring their pup to the game on June 6th for Bark in the Park. People must register their dog(s) prior to the game and can contact Kyle Kleiman through email at [email protected] or on the phone at 559.320.2536 to complete a form.

Family Entertainment is a key element of every Fresno Grizzlies home game, but the team is going above and beyond to enhance that experience on certain home games. ValleyPBS Family Days at the park bring character appearances on April 12th (Super Why and Woofster), April 26th, May 6th, June 7th, and August 2nd. Fresno Ideaworks Day on April 26th, presented by PG&E and The Fresno Bee, is the largest show-and-tell that caters to both kids and adults, featuring interactive gadgets, cardboard creations, and robotics displays from Valley natives. Halfway to Halloween Family Night on May 23rd encourages families to dress up in costumes, take part in a ballpark trick or treat, and then lock arms together in order to make their way through a haunted house! Another night to circle is The Princess Ball on August 9th, which encourages little ladies to dress up as their favorite princess. The Princess Ball will have character princesses on hand to take photographs with fans, as well as help decide who wins the Little Princess of the Game.

Theme Nights help blend baseball with pop culture and end up boosting the overall experience for a fan. Star Wars Night on May 8th adds a new element with the Fresno Philharmonic Brass Quintet performing live pregame theme music. Halfway to Halloween Party Night on May 21st coincides with Tecate Thursday and features a haunted house and rewards for the best costumes. Guys can come bro out with their best bud on June 18th for Fresbro Night, which includes ticket discounts and a limited edition Grizzlies Fresbro t-shirt designed by Shredworthy. The first game against the Sacramento River Cats on June 23rd is dubbed Grumpy Cat Night, where fans can receive 50% off any ticket on the day of the game if they show a grumpy cat meme post from their social media with hashtag #Wackramento at the box office. Don't be the person that misses Tribute to Back to the Future Night on August 15th. You'll be able to get a photo with an actual DeLorean and have the chance at picking up the boldest giveaway in sports history. Additional theme nights include Mom Jeans and Dad Pants Day (May 28), Tribute to Chocolate Night (July 17), Middle Child Appreciation Night (August 19), and Awkward Family Photo Night (August 20).

The legacy of baseball in Fresno comes alive with the Where Champions Are Grown Ring Giveaway, which honors Fresno's connection to five World Series Championships. The first two came in 1942 and 1946 when Fresno was affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals, while the remaining three came during the affiliation with the San Francisco Giants. Only the first 1,500 people through the gate will receive a ring!

A list of the full promotional schedule can be found online at FresnoGrizzlies.com under the Tickets and Promotions tab. Additional promotions will be added to the calendar throughout the year, so fans are urged to check the page consistently throughout the season.

Lastly, the Central Valley can expect winning baseball in 2015. Four reasons why are shown below:

  • The Houston Astros enter the 2015 season with the third-best Minor League talent in all of baseball, according to ESPN
  • The Astros four Championship-winning clubs in 2014 were the most among all 30 MLB organizations
  • The Astros possess seven of the top 100 prospects in all of baseball
  • New Fresno Grizzlies manager Tony DeFrancesco has recorded three league championship and seven division titles during his 12 seasons managing in the Pacific Coast League
