March is National Reading Month!

Lou E. Loon and the Great Lakes Loons are celebrating reading by rewarding local students for diving into great books! The Loons Reading Program, presented by Delta College, is a free, teacher-driven initiative designed to inspire a love of reading while turning classroom achievements into unforgettable ballpark memories.

Open to students ages 5–12, the program allows teachers to set customized reading goals and track progress in a way that fits their classroom. When students reach their goal and make it all the way home, they’ll earn a free lawn ticket to a 2026 Great Lakes Loons home game.

Every student who completes the program is also invited to participate in the Reading Program Parade, where they’ll walk the warning track before the game and be recognized on the field in front of Loons fans.

Students can showcase their creativity by designing their own bookmark, with the opportunity to compete against classrooms and schools from across the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Fun, free, and educational, the Loons Reading Program brings reading to life, both in the classroom and at the ballpark.
