Rall E. Camel to Appear at Dow Diamond

Live Camel to Attend Loons' First Playoff Game
September 9, 2009
MIDLAND, MI - As the Loons play their first playoff game in team history, a unique fan will be attending his first baseball game.

Rall E. Camel, a live camel hailing from an exotic petting zoo, will be at Dow Diamond today posing for pictures and greeting Loons fans. The Loons won 11 games in their last at-bat, many of those wins buoyed by the "Rally Camel" on the giant video board. In an effort to help bolster the team to a win over the West Michigan Whitecaps, today Dow Diamond will have both a real camel and a video board version of one.

To the knowledge of the Loons' staff, it will be the first time that a live camel has attended a Minor League Baseball game.

Additionally, Saginaw Spirit players and staff members will be at the ballpark unveiling their new uniforms for the 2009-10 season.

Fans can follow the Loons for the entire postseason on Twitter. Loons' broadcaster Brad Golder will be posting his post-season thoughts on the Loons' Twitter account @ greatlakesloons. Plus, you can become Lou E. Loon's friend on Facebook.com.

Today's game begins at 7:05pm and gates open at 6pm. Tickets still remain for the game at Loons.com, by calling 989-837-BALL or by visiting the Dow Diamond ticket office. The game will feature the popular Chemical Bank Dollar Family Feast Night promotion. The game also will be carried on the Loons' flagship radio home, ESPN 100.9-FM.

Left-hander Aaron Miller, who finished the regular season 3-1 with a 2.08 ERA in seven starts, is scheduled to start for the Loons. He was the Dodgers' top pick in this year's draft out of Baylor University. His scheduled opponent is left-hander Casey Crosby, the Tigers' No. 3 prospect according to Baseball America. He finished the regular season10-4 with a 2.41 ERA and a streak of 21 2/3 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
