Grasshoppers Defeat the Hot Rods 10-6 in the First Game of its Home Series

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 10-6, in the first game of its home series on Tuesday, May 23. GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 10-6, in the first game of its home series on Tuesday, May 23. The Grasshoppers improved to 21-19 while the Hot Rods fell to 18-20. Greensboro outhit Bowling Green 13-11 with an error-free game.

Starting on the mound for the Grasshoppers was righthanded pitcher Po-Yu Chen as he tallied six strikeouts and gave up four hits, one earned run, and one free base on five innings of work. Chen recorded his first win of the season for Greensboro.

Haden Erbe took the loss for the Hot Rods and moved to 0-1 on the season.

Leading at the dish was infielder Tsung-Che Cheng as he hit a .289 and went 2-4 with a double, two runs scored, and one free base. Following close behind was catcher Wyatt Hendrie as he went 2-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, and one RBI. Mike Jarvis also tallied a home run while Will Matthiessen recorded a double.

The Grasshoppers continue its home series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods tomorrow Wednesday, May 24 at 12:00 pm.
