Severino's Walk-Off Single Caps Grasshoppers' Extra-Inning Victory

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 9-5, in extra innings on a walk-off single by Jhonny Severino. With the win, the Grasshoppers improved to 20-15 in the second half of the season, while the Hot Rods fell to 24-11. Both teams recorded nine hits, while Bowling Green committed one error.

Leading the way offensively for Greensboro was infielder Jhonny Severino, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and one run scored. Designated hitter Carlos Caro followed with a 2-for-3 performance, recording one RBI and one run scored. The Grasshoppers also received hits from Yordany De Los Santos, Edward Florentino, Josh Tate, and Dylan Palmer.

Outfielder Jhon Diaz led the Hot Rods at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI, and one run scored. Larry Martinez followed with a 2-for-4 performance that included a home run, one RBI, and one run scored. Conner Hujsak and Nicandro Aybar each recorded two hits for Bowling Green.

Right-handed pitcher Jack Anker got the start for Greensboro and recorded eight strikeouts while allowing six hits, three earned runs, and three walks over six innings of work. Right-handed pitcher Draven Zeigler earned the win for the Grasshoppers, improving to 4-3 on the season.

Right-handed pitcher Jack Kartsonas started on the mound for Bowling Green, striking out five batters while allowing two hits over four innings. Right-handed pitcher Cade Citelli suffered the loss for the Hot Rods, falling to 5-1 on the season.
