Former U.S. Rep Radanovich To Speak At Farm Forums

Farm Forums to be held at each Farm Grown Friday starting on May 3rd

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies will begin a series of Farm Forums by welcoming former United States Representative from the 19th Congressional District George Radanovich on Friday, May 3rd. The Farm Forums will be held at each Farm Grown Friday home game starting on May 3rd. Former City of Fresno Mayor Alan Autry will host the Farm Forums during the 2013 season.

Farm Forums are a series of "meet the speaker" engagements in The CRU Club at Chukchansi Park at Friday home games during the 2013 season. The events will provide those involved in the agricultural industry, as well as those interested in agriculture, an opportunity to interact with representatives from government, business, non-profit, education, and health and wellness. Each Farm Forum will have a specific theme and feature a range of guest speakers, covering topics such as water, high-speed rail, energy, crime prevention, legislative policies affecting farmers, wine industry, technological advances in farming, consumer safety, and farm marketing.

The following dates are game days in which Farm Forums will be held:

  • August 30

Tickets for Farm Forums include The CRU Club seating for the game. Farm Forums will begin with an informal "mixer" in The CRU Club at 5 pm with the discussion panel to start at 5:30 pm. Please call (559) 320-TIXS for more details.

Radanovich spent 16 years (1995-2010) serving in Congress as a representative of the 19th Congressional District, which covered Fresno, Mariposa, Madera, Stanislaus, and Tuolumme counties. The native of Mariposa, California opened the Radanovich Winery, the first winery in the Mariposa County region, in 1986. He was a member of the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors from 1988 to 1992, serving as the chairman in 1991. He first ran for Congress in 1992.

Farm Forums are a component of the Fresno Grizzlies and Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund's efforts to engage the Central San Joaquin Valley's strong agricultural heritage with fans at Chukchansi Park. The Grizzlies Community Fund's Farm Grown program leads the charge for the two organizations as it focuses on building meaningful partnerships in support of education and healthy living.
