Alex Presley Receives First Major League Promotion

September 7, 2010
Alex Presley became the 96th former Crawdads' player to receive a promotion to the major leagues as the Pittsburgh Pirates called up the outfielder following the season finale at AAA-Indianapolis.

Presley began the season at AA-Altoona, where he shredded Eastern League pitching for a .350 average in 67 games with the Curve.

After his first promotion to AAA in mid-June, Presley made a quick impact with Indianapolis by becoming the first Indians' player in team history to achieve the cycle on June 27.

At Indy, Presley hit .294 with 27 of his 80 hits going for extra bases. For the season, he had 85 RBI total.

A member of Hickory's 2007 playoff team, Presley hit .293 in 121 games with 11 home runs and 63 RBI. He currently ranks 10th in a season with 495 at bats, and is tied for third in a season with eight triples-- sixth overall.

Presley is the first member of the 2007 team to receive a promotion to the major league level.
