Crawdads Set 6-Year High in Attendance
Hickory, NC - The Hickory Crawdads welcomed 148,417 fans through the gates at the newly renovated L.P. Frans Stadium in 2014, marking the highest single-season attendance for the 'Dads since 2007.
The Crawdads boasted four regular season sellout games this season in addition to a max capacity crowd for the South Atlantic League All-Star Game on June 17th. The high-water mark for the year came during the 'Dads Christian Concert game on August 16, where 5,263 fans packed the ballpark for the Crawdads game and post-game concert by Kutless.
"We received a tremendous amount of support from the fans this year and our final attendance number reflects that," said Crawdads General Manager Mark Seaman. "I think it shows that baseball is stronger than ever, not only in Hickory but across the country as well."
The 'Dads rise in attendance also mirrors the overall attendance growth in Minor League Baseball, with 42,411,194 total fans witnessing a MiLB game this year. The lofty total marks the 10th consecutive year that MiLB has drawn more than 41 million fans across its 176 teams in 15 leagues.
"The fact that Minor League Baseball has recorded its top 10 attendance totals in the past decade demonstrates the cumulative power of the brand and validates our place among recognizable sports properties," said Minor League Baseball President & CEO Pat O'Conner. "MiLB continues to prove year after year that it is a quality product, not just in terms of entertainment on the field, but also as a sound partner in its communities and with both local and national marketing sponsors. The tremendous support of our fans has afforded us the opportunity to accomplish these milestones."
