For the second straight night, Kannapolis struck first. In the second inning, Clay Burdette roped a triple to right-center, scoring Stiven Flores from first. Burdette would score on a groundout one batter later, putting Kannapolis up 2-0.
The sixth inning saw the CannonBallers put two more on the board. Matthew Boughton singled home Jake Berkland to extend the lead to three. An RBI single for Stiven Flores saw another run tacked on the board, providing a 4-0 cushion for Kannapolis.
One more in the ninth for the ‘Ballers as Christian Gonzalez hit the teams second triple of the night, scoring Burdette to put the nail in the coffin.
The shutout marked the first time the Howlers were shutout this season since July 3 against Fayetteville.
