About the Spartanburg Sluggers
The Spartanburg Sluggers competed as a black, semi-pro team across the southeast for over 50 years, spanning the early 1900s through the 1960s. Duncan Park served as the full-time home for the Sluggers upon its opening in 1926. The Sluggers are a spart of Minor League Baseball's "The Nine" initiative, honoring the impact of black baseball pioneers on the sport.
