Iowa starter Casey Kelly (5-2) pitched his second consecutive quality start, going six innings and giving up three earned runs on five hits and a home run, walking three and striking out two. With the loss, the I-Cubs are now 8-2 in games when Kelly starts.
The I-Cubs struck first, scoring in the top of the third on a Chris Dominguez RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. The Dodgers would tie it up on a solo home run off the bat of Ike Davis in the bottom of the inning, taking a 2-1 lead in the fifth on a Charlie Culberson RBI single.
Oklahoma City broke the game open in the seventh, scoring three runs to extend its lead to 5-1. Two of the three runs in the inning came off Iowa relief pitcher David Rollins and both were unearned. The lefty has not allowed an earned run as a reliever since May 15. Dominguez hit an RBI double in the ninth to make the score 5-2, recording his seventh straight multi-hit game.
Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-3 with a walk and no strikeouts. In 10 games with Iowa, he's batting .333 (11-for-33) with four home runs, nine RBI, nine runs, seven walks and 11 strikeouts. He's reached base safely in all 10 and hit safely in eight of 10 since joining the I-Cubs.
