DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (26-48) were shutout for the second-straight game against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (41-33) by a score of 2-0 at Principal Park on Sunday afternoon.

The I-Cubs held the Sky Sox scoreless through two before Quintin Berry slapped a home run just over the left field wall off starting pitcher Kyle Ryan in the third inning to give the Sky Sox a 1-0 lead.
Ryan made his second start since coming off the disabled list and pitched well, working 5.0 innings of one-run baseball before being replaced by Zach Hedges. Ryan's start tied for his longest outing of the season, dating back to his first start with Iowa on May 10.
Hedges, recently promoted from Double-A Tennessee, gave up a run in the top of the sixth inning on Brett Phillips double and a Nate Orf fielder's choice to double the visitor's edge. Hedges would total 4.0 one-run relief innings.
Today's game marked the eighth time Iowa has been on the losing end of a shutout this season. The team has been held off the board in 16.0-consecutive innings. Today, Iowa was only able to muster three hits from David Bote, Taylor Davis and Ryan Court.
Ryan (0-2) was the unlucky loser, and Paulo Espino (3-2) captured the victory with 2.2 scoreless innings in relief.
Iowa will travel to New Orleans for a four-game series against the Baby Cakes starting tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. Listen on AM 940 or www.iowacubs.com.
