DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (26-18) and the New Orleans Baby Cakes (23-21) split a twin bill, Sunday at Principal Park. Iowa secured Game 1 5-4 before surrendering to the Baby Cakes in Game 2 by a 3-0 score.

Robel Garcia gave Iowa the first lead of the day with a three-run homer in the first inning of Game 1. Iowa and New Orleans would trade runs in the contest to keep it close, but Iowa prevailed. A three-run inning from the Baby Cakes in the fifth locked the game 4-4, but a Johnny Field homer in the sixth moved Iowa ahead to stay. All four of New Orleans' runs scored off the long ball.
New Orleans struck in Game 2 on a Deven Marrero second-inning home run. Trevor Clifton (L, 1-2) was the unlucky loser as he allowed one run on two hits through 5.0 innings. The righty walked two and fanned four. The Baby Cakes padded their lead in the sixth as Yadiel Rivera roped a two-run double off Dillon Maples. Iowa was held scoreless, despite New Orleans' three errors.
Postgame Notes:
• New Orleans totaled six miscues between the two games, but all of Iowa's runs were earned.
