OF Matt Szczur optioned to Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa - The Chicago Cubs made a series of transactions today affecting Iowa's active roster for tonight's game against Nashville at Principal Park. Outfielder Matt Szczur has been activated by the Iowa Cubs after being optioned to Triple-A on Tuesday. In addition outfielder Rubi Silva has been placed on the suspended list.
Szczur, 26, is batting .217 (13-for-60) with four doubles, one homer and eight RBI in 35 games with Chicago this season. Szczur rejoins Iowa for the fifth time. He has batted .295 (66-for-224) with 10 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 26 RBI in 58 games with the I-Cubs this year.
Silva, 26, is batting .282 (84-for-298) with 11 home runs and 48 RBI to go along with 10 outfield assists for Iowa this season.
With these moves, Iowa's active roster is full at 25 players plus two players on the disabled list, one player on the suspended list and one player on major league rehab.
