The IronPigs control their own destiny for the International League playoffs heading into their regular-season finale on Monday against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders .
The Pigs walked off with a 3-2 win in game one of Sunday night's doubleheader and took game two by the score of 2-0 to set up a potential Wild Card clinching game Monday afternoon. The Pigs can clinch the league's final playoff spot with a win or a Rochester Red Wings loss, as the Red Wings fell to the Pawtucket Red Sox 7-2 Sunday night.
The doubleheader sweep of the RailRiders also clinches the coveted IronRail Series for the IronPigs, winning 10 of 17 games in the series after the sweep.
Even without a win, the IronPigs will enter the postseason with a loss by the Rochester Red Wings (79-62) in their home game against the Pawtucket Red Sox (67-74) due to Lehigh Valley owning the head-to-head tie-breaker.
With either one of these two scenarios, the IronPigs will have a playoff-clinching celebration at Coca-Cola Park for the first time in franchise history. Previously, the IronPigs punched their ticket to the IL Divisional Series in 2011 in Syracuse, the Governor's Cup finals in 2011 in Pawtucket and the IL Divisional Series in 2016 in Rochester.
The IronPigs trailed the Red Wings in the Wild Card standings by as many as 4.0 games on Aug. 23. Since, Lehigh Valley has gone 8-3 while Rochester has posted a 4-7 record.
