Andrew Pullin (3-4, R), Cameron Perkins (2-3, 2B, R) and Carlos Tocci (2-2, R, BB) each had multi-hit games for the Phillies Triple-A club in route to their 5-2 win over the Pirates Triple-A team Sunday afternoon in Bradenton, Fl.
Nick Williams helped lead the team to the win as he plated two of the Phillies five runs with his two-run double. Chace Numate also added an RBI as he plated a run on a RBI groundout.
Williams, who spent the 2016 season with the IronPigs, comes into the 2017 season ranked as the Phillies fourth-best prospect by both MLB Pipeline and Baseball America. Last season with the 'Pigs, the Galveston, TX., native hit .258 with 13 home runs and 64 RBI in 125 games.
Nick Pivetta began the game on the mound for the Phillies Triple-A team as the right-hander went 4.0 IP surrendering just one run on five hits and struck out a pair. Pivetta , who pitched in three major league Spring Training games before playing in the 2017 World Baseball Classic for Canada. In his three outings for big league camp, the Victoria, British Colombia, Canada, native went 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA and surrendered just two runs on seven hits in 8.0 innings.
Miguel Nunez (2.0 IP, H, BB, 2 K's) and Yackesl Rios (2.0 IP, K) both did not allow a run in their two innings of work out of the bullpen. Jesen Dygestile-Therrien came on in the ninth to preserve the Phillies 5-2 win as he surrendered just one run on one hit while striking out and walking a batter.
The Phillies Triple-A squad will again play the Pirates Triple-A affiliate Monday afternoon, however, the game will be played in Clearwater, Fl. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
