Darick Hall’s Clutch Two-Run Single Paves Way to IronPigs Victory over Mets

Esteban Quiroz collects two hits and drives in a run for a fifth straight game

Allentown, Pennsylvania (July 29, 2023) – With the bases loaded and two outs, Darick Hall came through in the clutch with a two-run single to power the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (51-47, 15-10) past the Syracuse Mets (42-57, 9-16) by a final score of 4-3 on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park.

Allentown, Pennsylvania (July 29, 2023) – With the bases loaded and two outs, Darick Hall came through in the clutch with a two-run single to power the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (51-47, 15-10) past the Syracuse Mets (42-57, 9-16) by a final score of 4-3 on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park.

The Mets got on the board straight away in the first. After three straight two-out walks, Carlos Cortes dropped a double into leftfield, plating two runs to put the Mets up 2-0.

The IronPigs tied the game in the third. Jordan Qsar singled to open the inning and Dustin Peterson followed with a walk. Esteban Quiroz then ripped a double into the rightfield corner, plating Qsar. Simon Muzziotti tied the game with a sacrifice fly, scoring Peterson.

The Mets reclaimed the lead in the sixth. Luke Ritter singled to open the inning and was moved to third on another Cortes double. After a strikeout and walk, a groundout from Brandon Fryman brought home Ritter to put the Mets ahead 3-2.

The bottom of the order sparked the decisive rally for the IronPigs in the eighth. Qsar drew a walk to start the inning and Peterson doubled him to third. After two strikeouts, Weston Wilson was intentionally walked to load the bases, bringing up Hall and setting the stage for his game-winning base hit.

Taylor Lehman (1-0) picked up the win for the IronPigs, working a scoreless eighth, allowing just a hit. Tyler McKay (S, 1) converted the save for the IronPigs, pitching a scoreless ninth, striking out two and working around a hit.

Josh Walker (2-2) suffered the loss for the Mets out of the bullpen, allowing two runs over 1.2 innings on two hits and two walks, striking out four

The IronPigs and Mets continue wrap up their series on Sunday, July 30, with first pitch slated for 1:35 p.m.
