August 27, 2016

A four-run fifth cost the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (78-55) in a 4-3 loss to the Buffalo Bisons (65-69) on Friday night at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo.

In the afore-mentioned four-run fifth, a pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases with one out before Darrell Ceciliani delivered the big blow with a three-run triple and later scored on Matt Dominguez's RBI single.

Pigs starter David Buchanan (8-9) allowed the four runs on seven hits while walking three and fanning three in five innings of work.

The IronPigs took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Andrew Knapp (2-4, 2B, R) reached with a one-out single, advanced to third on a double and scored on Brock Stassi's RBI single.

Buffalo starter Scott Diamond (9-13) gave up the one run on six hits to go along with four walks and five strikeouts in 6.0 IP.

Cody Asche's two-run shot off of RHP Dustin Antolin (0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB) in the top of the seventh brought the Pigs within 4-3. The home run was Asche's fifth of the season.

RHP Danny Barnes (2.1 IP, H, 4 K) came on in relief of Antolin and notched his fifth save of the year.

Cam Perkins (2-4, 2B) also had a multi-hit game for Lehigh Valley and Darin Ruf extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a double in the seventh.

RHP Colton Murray (0.1 IP, H, 2 BB) and LHP Joely Rodriguez (2.2 IP, 1 K) each had a scoreless outing in relief for manager Dave Brundage's squad.
