Four wins in a row clinches series in Moosic

The IronPigs have won four straight games – a season high

(Moosic, PA) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (13-11) turned in their fourth straight win as they beat the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (9-14) 9-3 on Sunday afternoon. Their four-game winning streak is a season high and secures their second consecutive series win.

Dustin Peterson put Lehigh Valley on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning as he hit an RBI single against Manny Banuelos. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning as Max McDowell scored on a wild pitch by Colton Eastman.

Will Toffey hit an RBI single against Banuelos in the top of the fourth inning that gave Lehigh Valley a 2-1 lead. Yairo Munoz scored on the single for the IronPigs. Eastman turned in 4 1/3 innings pitched on the mound for Lehigh Valley.

After Jakob Hernandez pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief, the RailRiders scored two runs against Jake Newberry in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 3-2 lead. Ryan LaMarre hit an RBI double that was followed up by an RBI single from Estevan Florial.

Lehigh Valley took back the lead against Reggie McClain (0-1) in the top of the eighth inning. Bryson Stott hit an RBI single to tie the game at 3-3 and Drew Maggi hit an RBI single to put Lehigh Valley ahead, 4-3.

The ‘Pigs proceeded to then score five runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 9-3 lead. Darick Hall hit his tenth home run of the season against Shelby Miller. Nick Maton hit a double against Miller and a throwing error by Phillip Evans allowed Peterson to score. Maton then scored on a force out for the third run allowed by Miller. John Andreoli then hit a two-run home run against Jose Mujica for the final runs of the inning.

Braeden Ogle (1-1) earned the win for Lehigh Valley as he pitched 1 1/3 scoreless inning of relief. Nick Duron closed out the game by pitching a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning for Lehigh Valley.

The IronPigs continue their road trip on Tuesday as they head to Syracuse to begin a six-game series against the Mets. First pitch on Tuesday evening is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
