IronPigs turn in their first three-game losing streak of the season

(Worcester, MA) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (3-4) lost to the Worcester Red Sox (6-1) on Tuesday afternoon. The ‘Pigs saw a 2-2 tie get broken in the bottom of the sixth inning as the WooSox scored four runs in the inning.

Worcester started out with a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning as Yolmer Sanchez hit an RBI double against Michael Mariot that scored Roberto Ramos. Mariot lasted just three innings before turning the game over to the bullpen for Lehigh Valley.

Kyle Dohy tossed a scoreless inning before Rob Refsnyder hit an RBI double to score Sanchez against Joe Gatto. The WooSox took a 2-0 lead. The Pigs tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the sixth inning when Dalton Guthrie hit an RBI single against Eduard Bazardo (1-0) and Donny Sands hit a sacrifice fly against Bazardo.

Worcester took a 6-2 lead against Aaron Barrett (0-1) in the bottom of the sixth inning as Sanchez hit a two-run home run that was followed by a solo home run by Triston Casas. John Andreoli added a run in the top of the seventh before Ryan Fitzgerald hit a two-run home run to give Worcester an 8-3 lead.

The IronPigs and WooSox play on Wednesday evening at Polar Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
