Loons, Hot Rods Rained Out

Teams will play doubleheader at Dow Diamond on Thursday

MIDLAND, Mich. - Wednesday's originally scheduled 7:05 p.m. game at Dow Diamond in Midland between the Great Lakes Loons (13-18, 49-51) and Bowling Green Hot Rods (18-13, 49-49) has been rescheduled due to the amount of rainfall and forecasts into the night.The game will be made up Thursday, July 27

MIDLAND, Mich. - Wednesday's originally scheduled 7:05 p.m. game at Dow Diamond in Midland between the Great Lakes Loons (13-18, 49-51) and Bowling Green Hot Rods (18-13, 49-49) has been rescheduled due to the amount of rainfall and forecasts into the night.
The game will be made up Thursday, July 27 as part of a doubleheader beginning at 6:05 p.m. Both games of the doubleheader will be seven-inning contests separated by a 30-minute break. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. 
It is the ninth game of the season for the Loons that has been impacted by poor weather conditions with the most recent coming on June 22 against the South Bend Cubs when a game was suspended in the 7th inning due to rain.
Fans that purchased tickets for Wednesday's rainout may redeem them at the Dow Diamond box office for tickets of equal or lesser value to any of the remaining Loons home games this season, based on availability.
Right-hander Chris Mathewson (2-2, 3.67) remains the scheduled starter for game one against the Hot Rods on Thursday. Lefty J.D. Busfield (4-6, 3.53) is expected to oppose Mathewson on the mound. The pitching matchup for the nightcap will feature Great Lakes righty Melvin Jimenez (1-0, 0.00) who's the second-youngest player to ever appear in a game for the Loons at just 17 years old.
