LOWELL, MA - Two Stedler Division rivals came in to the night tied for second place but it was the Spinners (26-24) who pulled past the Lake Monsters (25-25) on Monday.
Lowell established their dominance from the beginning with five runs in the first inning of the game. Grant Williams reached on a leadoff single and scored on a Jonathan Ortega double to make it 1-0. Rafael Devers, making a rehab assignment with the Spinners, brought home Ortega on a grounder to give Lowell a two-run lead. Devlin Granberg and Tyler Esplin then drew a pair of walks to set up a two-run double from Tyler Dearden. Williams then picked up his second single of the inning to score Dearden to bring in the fifth run.
Starting pitcher Chris Machamer delivered a strong performance for the Spinners. In four innings, he struck out a pair, walked none, and allowed an earned run on five hits.
Dylan Hardy tripled to lead off the fourth inning and scored on a Grant Williams single, who continued his best game as a professional. Granberg would later drive in Williams on a double to push the lead to 7-1.
Logan Browning made his Spinners debut and threw three innings with a pair of unearned runs on one hit. He also picked up his first of the season.
In the bottom of the fifth Dylan Hardy pushed the lead to 9-3 with an two-run double.
The highlight of the night came in the bottom of the sixth when Rafael Devers launched a solo shot to right center field, pushing the lead to seven runs.
Tyler Dearden picked up his fourth hit on the night and drove in Jonathan Ortega to complete the 11-3 assault on Vermont.
