Coming off a big win over the division-leading Vermont Lake Monsters (34-27) the night before, the Spinners (27-32) looked to close the gap to four games as their home stand continued. Unfortunately that would not be the case.
Starting pitcher Yorvin Pantoja surrendered six runs (four earned) on four hits, three walks, and a pair of strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work.
After giving up four runs in the top of the first, Frankie Rios and Marino Campana drew a pair of walks before Raiwinson Lameda singled home Rios to put the Spinners on the board.
Taylor Ahearn threw 3.1 innings of relief and surrendered six earned runs on the night.
Juan Barriento drew a two-out walk in the bottom of the sixth then stole second base to put himself in scoring position for Raiwinson Lameda. With his second RBI of the night, Lameda drove in Barriento to make it 9-2.
Dominic LoBrutto managed to stop the bleeding with two innings of relief, allowing only one run while striking out a pair.
Infielder Steven Reveles came in to pitch in the top of the ninth and surrendered a two-run home run but did manage to strike out a man looking.
With the 15-2 loss, the Spinners return to LeLacheur Park looking to split the series and creep one game closer to the division lead. Jake Thompson is scheduled to make the start with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
